Kawakawa is a plant indigenous to the New Zealand bush, renowned for its remarkable healing properties, which have been utilized by Māori for centuries. This significant medicinal plant, also known as the New Zealand Pepper Tree (Piper Excelsum), is easily identified by its heart-shaped leaves, often featuring numerous holes. Traditionally, Kawakawa leaves were valued for their diverse uses in healing practices. They were applied topically to treat various ailments, including bruises, rheumatism, dry skin, minor cuts, and infections. Additionally, Kawakawa is effective for skin issues like eczema, psoriasis, and rashes.
